Went out today early and detected an old house for about 3 hrs. With nothing to show for it a went home to eat lunch and relax. I went out again to another 1700's house about 5:00. An hour later my trash side was filled and keeper side not so much. I left and decided to hit up this field that has produced many large cents and some military artifacts. I decided that since the keepers have become farther apart, i would try my luck closer to the road. Although alittle trashy sometimes it yeilds keepers.
Got a good nickle hit and dug my plug. I was hoping to find a buffalo nickel never did i believe this baby would be there. Not only is it beatiful, its super thick and heavy. Its about 4 times the weight of the one i dug two weeks ago. This is a prime example that you have to expect the unexpected. I never thought gold would be in a place were i was digging 1800's coins but low and behold, its there. The mark is 14k s . Does this mean anything besides 14k?
Thanks alot for looking
Keith

Ive included some pics of the odds and ends i got along the way today.

Holy smokes!!!! Nice big gold band. Super find. Congrats.
Is that a lock in the bottom picture? What does it say on it? Sorry, my eyes aren't what they used to be. I still have my hair and teeth though. :D

Nice finds. My guess is that since it was found close to the road, someone threw it out of the window of a passing car after a fight. Stranger things have happened.

Sorry, I couldn't find anything on it on E-bay or Google. You may want to PM Lockman to see if he knows anything about it.
Good luck. Great looking lock.

"S" means "send it" to ME.
It has a curse on it which can only be lifted if you give it to me.

LOL

You did good.

We're going out tomorrow.
Maybe we can get lucky too.

For closeup try a cheap magnifying lens in front of your camera. Remember to focus on the back of your camera and you will do great.

Nice finds...love those gold rings.
