It rained all day yesterday which means this old Louisiana dirt was nothing but wet clay which will suck you up like quicksand, so I spotted a small higher spot that they must of used the same dirt as filler because I could see little pieces of pottery. To my surprise I found a V-nickel 6 inches away from a piece of a old iron. Glad to have it. IMG_2587.webpIMG_2592.webpIMG_2591.webpIMG_2590.webp

wow that at max is working good!!!

I have been detecting for 59 years now and those are the worst finds I’ve ever seen. You sir, are a disgrace to the metal detecting community.
You're kidding right? If not you sir are the biggest a**!!

There is no way that guy has been detecting for 59 years then, because I could show him finds so disgraceful that his faith in all of creation would be lost. Hell, he would lose his lunch if I emptied the junk out of my pockets right now, and that is after a laundry cycle.

A V nickel and a sad iron fragment are very respectable finds. Especially side by side.

Yes, that is a sad iron. I guess it's sad it was lost over 150 years ago and never looked for.

Agreed, I would love to find either one of those finds on a hunt, and would definitely consider them good (the last V-Nickel I found, one of only two, made me do a happy dance!). Normally my hunts consist of pull tabs, shotgun shells, and square nails. I am pretty sure that this guy was a troll.

You are regularly finding some good stuff, that guy can't even find common decency.

You have to be one big loser in life to troll a metal detecting site. Lol

That guy popped up out of nowhere to spread good cheer. Just wanted to say you're digging some nice finds this year, Truth.

Heck ya, you are a machine! At least one oldie a day.

That guy deleted his comment within 3 minutes of my response. I checked his bio first and this was third post/comment ever. Nice job Truth on sniffing out the V nickel next to the big iron! 59 years? Must have started out on a mil surp mine detector, wonder how much crap he ever dug up with that non-discriminating relic. What an impolite bozo!!

the old toasted Iron represented an age of hard hot work to iron clothes and is a very cool find no matter what anyone thinks. The nickle? I think it looks better than my one an only, at least you could tell for sure that it was a V nickle

Truth, he wasnt calling his shot in that picture. He was pointing to all the silver coins in the grass behind the park.

Nice finds for sure and ignore the trolls!
