Under Attack! It is a "Neoscona Orb Weaver" spider!

I just now witnessed this spider attacking a katydid in his/her web on my front porch! What kind of spider is it?

Re: Under Attack!

Wolf spiders are hunters, they dont snare prey in a web. They chase it down

Re: Under Attack! It is a "Neoscona Orb Weaver" spider!

It's not a brown recluse, they are small. Casca, THAT spider is called a fishing spider. They are all over here. I hate looking at them but they are not harmful to humans except that they can cause heart attacks on first sight LOL

WOLF SPIDERS CHASE DOWN THEIR PREY AND ARE QUITE FAST -- THEY DO NOT MAKE WEBS.

Re: Under Attack! It is a "Neoscona Orb Weaver" spider!

You ought to see the spiders that are imported in bananas and such to your green grocers. You would be surprised how big they are. My friend used to collect them for me and put them in a bottle of alcohol. Don't know what proof. How does HM government feel about illegal "immigrants"?

Rember, Spinder are our freinds
they do great things for us, cleaning out smaller pests. - I despise house flies
Not that im a big spider fan.
Show me a spider, mouse, rat, gator or snake, i will jump on a chair and squeel like a little girl at the sight of a snake
the other vermin are just fine with me
IM a 50 yr old guy, guess you could call me a sissy
I was born and raised in the woods so to speak, just cant deal with snakes

Not only do the wolf spiders chase you but they can jump at you. that is a holy s#@$ moment. i usually don't scream when I see spiders, I just tried to kill one and it jump at me. pretty sure the whole neighborhood heard that.
