Finally got permission to hunt a union army campsite that the landowner and his family have never allowed access to anyone, well let me tell u I've only made 3 trips over the past 5 days there for a total of only about 5 hours worth of digging since i can't go there til after work or quickly before work, the ground is honeycombed with three ringers, in the pics I'm posting now I've found 69 bullets 5 of the 3 Ringers are FRENCH IMPORTED TRIANGULAR BASE, most of a SHOULDER SCALE, some Eagle Buttons, a lovely US US ARMY MAILING STAMP WITH EAGLE CLUTCHING ARROWS, STARS AND WREATH AT BOTTOM, scabbard tip, canteen top, WILL DEF BE MAKING MORE TRIPS BACK THERE IN THE COMING DAYS, enjoy!!!! 100_2642.webp100_2644.webp100_2647.webp100_2648.webp100_2650.webp100_2651.webp

An undug Union CW Camp is like a Banner find in itself. The plates should start showing up soon. Hopefully some nice Yankee state seal buttons too. Does this camp cover a lot of acres and do you have access to it all? You may not have to hunt anywhere else for a long time - LOL

Awesome! That is going to make you 1 nice collection of relics from that spot! WTG!

do not have access to it all as of yet

For historical sake, you may want to map out the site and note where each item was found. Sounds like a great site.

Don't stop until you find that hidden seated or buckle...

Oh man that is so sweet !!! Super jealous !! Please keep us posted in your finds ! And if you ever need a hunting partner just holler !! Happy hunting !!

ive been writing down afterwards where my finds were on the property, approx depth...., doin my best to keep a decent record of the layout

Keeping a record of the layout will help you in the long run, not only in terms of learning more about the site, but also to record where you've hunted and where you haven't. I have a hunch this will be a banner site for you when all is said and done. Congrats on locating it and getting permission where others have failed! I'm certainly looking forward to seeing your upcoming posts, because as you know these sites are once-in-a-lifetime finds. That's the way I felt about discovering our colonial tavern site in the spring, especially when I found out that it was the only tavern in the area to have existed before Louisiana was under U.S. governance.

Congrats,

Buck

It is like a dream come true I bet. Enjoy it keep it secret and document your new site collection. I foresee some great relics waiting on you. Good luck and congrats!
