Sorry Iron Patch, didn't mean to get your hopes up. Found this little fellow this afternoon at very heavily trafficked hiking site called Ashley Pond in Holyoke Massachusetts. Timber Rattlers are considered endangered in Massachusetts but they are around. I've spent my entire life in the woods and this is only the second live one I've seen. He or she was at least five feet long and I count 11 or 12 buttons on its rattle. If it had 13 it'd been the perfect match for my Rattlesnake and Eggs button (see my avatar). Moose last weekend, a bear on Saturday during my hunt with Greylock (detecting finds to come), and now a rattler today. Perhaps a mountain lion next? Stay safe and happy hunting!

or a squatch!!

You should start a new show, something that combines nature with metal detecting. Bound to be more interesting than any of those other detecting shows on TV. I honestly thought the one with Bill Ladd and Howard would be the one but they seemed to sell out to the whole idea of chasing absurd stories just like the other shows. I just want to see a really well produced show of some regular guys hunting regular foundation sites in the woods or highly productive cornfield sites. Make it happen! :laughing7:

Yep, I'll pay you to keep that one! :)

Wow that is rare:icon_thumleft:

Wildlife is one of the things i love about Cellar hole hunting..

Bears, moose, and mountain lions are fine. I see that thing and I'm out.

Awesome! You are lucky to hunt in such a place.

I've spent a lot of time out in the woods my whole life and I haven't seen one. I wonder how many times I have walked past one and didn't see it.

Didn't realize treasure hunting was such a dangerous hobby!
