Found this metal detecting California's mother lode. took me atleast two weeks to find the 2nd half. seems to be a brass. any help appreciated. thanks

It's a pre Civil War union plate. I've seen a few pulled out of Civil War campsites. It's very unusual to get the 2nd piece. Congrats.

devldog! thank you! I lucked out on my spot. I knew it had potential when I dug at least 200 square nails and countless iron bits before finding it. no sound left unburied! I actually found it some time ago and already made a post about it, but recently became curious as to what it might be worth, not that im interested in selling it, just might have to hide it better :skullflag: 8-)

That piece to a Relic Hunter, A price I would put on it would be in the neighborhood of PRICELESS. A great piece of History for sure.:jim:
