My buddy found this detecting the beach in Miami fl anyone recognize it it's octagonal he doesn't know how to clean it

Looks modern so once ID'ed I'm pretty sure he won't care too much about cleaning it.

I don't know anything about coins, and I'm sure someone will chime in here, but I would at least use a toothbrush and some soap and water. Don't see how it could hurt.
Looks like it's a pretty cool item.

Hi - that looks to be a modern UK 20 Pence. It is a piece from the very neat design where the coins come together to make a complete coat of arms.
