unpatanted claims

i am trying to figure out if i can afford to buy an unpatented mining clain. ok once you have actually bought an unpatented claim could someone tell me what other expences i would have to pay?

Ever paid a property tax on an unpatented claim, Beth? Thats what threw up a red flag for me. I can't see how that is even possible.

As for buildings, I've heard it both ways. I know what the federal laws say, and you are correct. here in Oregon however, BLM will bulldoze a permanent structure if it doesn't adhere 100% to the rules and regs.

I guess its mostly in interpretation. If a ranger can interpret it one way to try and intimidate someone, they can and will. Most of the miners in our neck of the woods can't afford lawyers.

Hmmm, must be a state thing. I did a quick search and found that Washington and California states DO tax unpatented claims. I'm assuming AZ is the same since you are paying as well. We don't in Oregon. Shhhhhhh!
