On a whim, Sunday I decided to get away (out of state) for a couple of days. On the way home today, I decided to hit a few banks. I hit 2 connecting towns that pretty much seem like 1 continuous town congested mainly along a single 4 lane (sometimes 6 lane) highway. I normally meticulously plan my road trips down to the last bank. Today I didn't have a map, or even my GPS, so I just decided to go down one side of the highway and hit every bank on that side, and return in the other direction doing the same. All told I hit maybe 15-20 banks and found around $600 in halves. Noteable stops included:
- At my very first stop, I ran into 3 extremely friendly tellers. The first had $20. The second spoke up and said she had $60. As I was paying the $60, the third walked up and said she had $200. She was both shocked and happy when I said I would take those too. She asked if I collected halves, to which I just simply replied, "Yes ma'am, I sure do." She said that the halves she had must have came from a collector as he had written the dates on the rolls. I quickly spotted a roll with "65-67" written on it before she threw them into a plastic bag. Back in the truck I pulled out a roll with "71" written on it. I opened it, and to my delight, twenty 1971 halves spilled into my hand. Not that I particularly wanted 20 1971 clad halves, but I was thinking that if that roll contained exactly what was written on it, the roll that had "65-67" written on it probably would as well. Somehow I avoided temptation and waited until I got home to open the rolls. The $80 from the other 2 tellers were skunks. 17 of the 20 marked rolls were all marked with dates that would be clad and every one of them contained exactly what they were said to contain. The other 3 rolls were marked "65-67", "67-69" and "69-71". The "69-71" roll contained 7 40% (all 1969 as expected). The other 2 rolls were what they were supposed to be as well. 2 solid rolls of 40%. I kept digging in the bag for the rolls marked "64" or "Bens and Walkers", but if they did ever exist, the tellers snagged them.
- I was staying in the far right hand lane, as I didn't really know where I was going, but was only looking for banks on "my" side of the road anyway. Naturally my lane turned into a "right turn only" lane and traffic was so thick I couldn't get over, and I was forced onto the interstate. Luckily, within a half mile I had an exit, and there was a bank. I only scored 2 40%ers there, but its two I wouldn't have gotten had I not been forced to take a slight detour.
All of the other banks combined produced a lone 40%er.
Total take: 50 40%

Wonderful scores there ABM!!! I love getting rolls with dates on them (good dates of course 
) and having them contain exactly what is written on the roll!!!
