Now in this picture look very carefully at the round table on the right side of the picture. There is a pile of something on that table......these are dug civil war horse bits that were thrown away and buried.. They dug a hole right next to this building for a bar-be-que pit in the ground and dug all these up. They have markings on them but they have not been cleaned up yet. Makes my mouth water...we tried trading my truck for them but had no luck. They were waiting for state arceologists to show up and we quickly told them thats who we were but it didn't work....Lol!!! See the things you can find by just turning off the road and looking. Baggins and I are professonals at that and we proved it. Wish you could have been there BUT YOU WERE WARNED.

We also did very good public relations while we were there. This is Eddie who is the land owners son. He spent Sunday with us and we had invited him to come detect with us. He said he had always wanted to detect so we took it on ourselves to inspire him and teach him some finer points of detecting. He caught on REAL fast and has the right mind set for a good detectorist. He also said his wife was interested too. We are going to help him pick out a metal detector and by the time we get back there, he will be set up. He is also a heck of a backhoe operator....you can never have too many backhoe operators when the Six Pack is on the prowl!!! :icon_thumleft:

Baggins, we gotta do something with your camera! My eyes don't work that way! :dontknow:

And who was the guy praying at the restaurant table??

Steve, you did good, but you must have traded cameras with Baggins at some point! :D Can't adjust my computer that wide!

Oh, and what's with the ants? And you're trying to tempt us to go to that place?? ::)

Great job, guys! Good Six-Pack contributions!! Thanks to you all for the shots!

...but Nana still had the best shot of the weekend... sorry, fellas!

And WHAT??? No banner material?? :P Gals, the Rowdy Bunch is going to have to give them a run for the money next year. But not without the BACKHOE!!!

Noodle :-* :-* :laughing9:

Noodle, sorry but some pics are censored! However there are probably more pics on the way, everytime I looked at juanmoretime and baggins and cyber they had a camera up to their eye.

Eddie was fun to meet and swing a coil with, sure glad of the backhole as we would still be there diggin it up with a Lesche. And hoisting all of it up :dontknow: Just goes to prove you never know whats under your feet or what was hidden and buried many many years ago. My thermos of :coffee2: is ready for the road trip.

Juanmore

you guys did see an awesome place, think next time I will spend two weeks there so I can see some of the history sites also around there.

Did those bits start rusting from all your drooling over them lol

Well, I got home okay last night, but it was 1:00 AM and I was kinda tired. Spent today resting and then returning the rental car. Empty out, wash, vacuum, refuel, drop-off.............
Then supper and church youth group, followed by trip to Dairy Queen for a Thin Mint Blizzard!!!
Anyway, here's some more stuff from Uvalde:
Here's the park we detected (photos from camera phone)-

And I already put up a better pic of the clad in an earlier post-

We also hunted a huge sand volleyball pit, and found a few coins-

The trip out to the ranch/farm where we hunted was bumpy...... the roads were rough as a cob!!

They didn't look better on cell phone camera either!

And off the road wasn't much better......

I guess it could be a treasure curse........

The Sabinal Cemetery was neat!

And surprisingly enough, a couple pics of our travels thru LA turned out.

I discovered as long as you dress like this, you can hunt anywhere at night and be left alone. Reports of a 7 foot tall Bigfoot should taper down now that we have left town. Apparently they are not used to having reports of Bigfoot in the area, no one is safe from the Six Pack!!!

Hope the other 'SixPack' members do not mind but,I received this today-

Thank you for the kind words regarding our town and the welcome you
received. We will plan to publish this as a letter to the editor in
our Sunday, Nov. 1, newspaper.

Sincerely,

Late lest night,when I was sleepy and tired, I had sent them this;

Six of us,two from FL,two from MO,one from La and one from Tx
> recently visited your city(oct 23,24,25).We were greeted very
> enthusiastically and were made welcome by all we came in contact
> with. All the citizens were very warm and pleasant to converse with.
> I would especially like to highlight ms Joanne Nelson of the Chamber
> of commerce,mr Ed Stern who both went out of their way to make sure
> our visit was successful.
> We dined at The Main St Grill and it was very enjoyable, at Vasquez
> which was unique,at Golden Corral which served delicious food, and at
> Lunker's which was superb in both food and personnel. We stayed at
> the Quality Inn which was very clean with good amenities and
> friendly staff and real comfort. The city was very clean.
> Our only disappointment was that we could not locate the gravesite
> of Pat Garrett as there was no marker visable, which I hope will be
> corrected for future visitors.Uvalde and it's residents are
> certainly the hidden gem of Texas and we are looking forward to
> another visit soon.Thank you Uvalde for receiving us so
> graciously.R.Tindall,Warsaw,MO

Thought that this couldn't hurt to enhance our potential hunt areas in the future.I'm sure they will remember us anyway, don't know how they wouldn't!
How many C of C and city Council members make this kind of effort for someone wanting to metal detect?
