Cabin - 9 (52.9%)
Tent - 4 (23.5%)
Camper/RV - 3 (17.6%)
Spouse Attending - Not Hunting - 1 (5.9%)

Total Voters: 11

Don't know how this poll works, but I see 9 for cabins, 4 for tents, 3 RV = 16, but 11 votes?

I clicked cabin and spouse attending, and I know for fact WSD clicked cabin...but that still doesn't tell us who's attending the hunt.

From all the replies on the past 2 pages here is the list stating who would be coming and/or interested.

That help on ours??

It sure does...hope everyone would do that.

Neal's Lodges on the Frio River, 23 mi from Uvalde. They have agreed to rent all the cabins we need at $68 (includes tax) for two people to a cabin. Told them we may need 12-14 cabins. Tents, $20. Restaurant open only on wknds. Said we would probably be the only ones there in Oct. Fully stocked store. They will provide us with the linens/towels.

the link showed some cabins with several beds that were more...would there still be the same percentage off if folks wanted to share a cabin to cut some expense?

Yes,she told me if more than two people to the cabin, then the price would be 30% off the in season rate for that cabin.

Here is some news as to what is being pursued;(emails)

Megan: Here's the thread about the upcoming October treasure hunt:
http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,315151.0.html

The homepage is www.treasurenet.com.

At our CVB meeting yesterday, several suggestions were made on places that you might check out and see if they could get access.

Tom Austin suggested the City of Sabinal's site where they are going to build a waste disposal site. Tom did not know the timeline on the site's construction but you might check it out.

Jan Elliott suggested Dr. H. O. "Skeeter" Watkin's ranch. When the fur trapper organization was last here, he let them set traps there. This would be a jewel of a place. Your Granddad knows Skeeter well and maybe you could enlist his aid.

The owner of the treasurenet website is planning to make the trip. This would be great publicity for Uvalde County what with all the folks that visit this website. As I said several days ago, since the group will be staying at Neal's this is right down your alley. Let me know if you can follow up on these.

Ron Tindall, who used to live here, is coordinating the trip.
Ed
(the CVB stands for Convention/Visitor's Bureau)

From Neal's;

Hi my husband has been out of town—but will ask him about using the metal detectors—I have pout you down for 9 cabins at 66.50—all can call and rent their own --- campsites and rvs are no problem-----mary anna

Subject: October Update

As discussed with Mary Anna, our group will be coming to your place 16-23 Oct.Some may stay 3 days others will stay from 3-7 days.Prices and etc has already been discussed, this is just an update. We have given everyone until the end of July to commit.Right now we are at 9 cabins,5tents and 2 RV with about half the people responding. We are a group of friends who get together each year to visit and metal detect. We are not hard core detectorists, myself,I'm 75 and only detect maybe an hour each day.People will be coming from Florida,Alabama,Texas,Louisiana,Oklahoma,Kansas Arizona,Arkansas,Missouri and even Oregon. So we sit a lot and visit.I use to live in Uvalde. If you know Manza, the barber there,we will be detecting at his place part of the time. And if you know Ed Stern in Uvalde he can vouch for us.A few of us were down last Oct and detected at Geo Lisotney's and had a great time so now a bigger crowd wants to attend. If you or any of your staff would like to join in with us you are certainly welcome to do so,just have to have a good sense of humor. Also, some of the people would like to know if it would be ok to walk around and detect some at your park?I will try and give you a more firm number of facilities we will be reserving as time nears the end of July.I may add that we leave no holes(everyone polices each other) and dispose of all trash we dig,i.e.,pulltabs,wire,bottlecaps,nails,iron,etc.Many of us are retired and we do have ex-law enforcement people in our group.Thank you

Ron Tindall

Looking good, WSD :headbang:

Ok, folks I need for y'all to tell me who's staying where...I got my cabin, so does WSD and Cyndi & Brian. No clue who has the other cabins...who's tenting and who has campers/RVs. PM me so I can add your name the list. Thanks!

 RR

We have had a bit of a setback as my vehicle was totaled last night and will have to be replaced. Not sure if we will still be able to go but if we can work it out we will be there...it was going to be pushing it as it was. Thankfully Teresa and her friends all are fine, that is all that really matters right now. Just wanted to warn you that we might have to change our plans.
