Little bit of an update - Ed just called me and said he didn't know how long everyone was planning on staying in Uvalde but in addition to Manza's 30 acres,he has secured the Dr 'skeeter' Watkins ranch(about 1000 acres) which has a lot of caves on it.It's the place where the fur trappers had their gathering. He is also trying to get a place that has a lot of old buildings/foundations from way back. And he said that Manza also has about 2 acres right on the Frio River in the Concan area that should be good for arrowheads but he won't see Manza until friday to ask about that. Now everyone keep in mind that I haven't seen any of these places,it's just plenty of area to hunt and whether there is anything to be found we won't know until you guys put the detectors to it.I guess the caves are both large and small. No telling what or who used them for shelter but like I said, wear your snake gardz if you have them and the landowners are totally released from any liability. As soon as I can get specific locations so we can look at them on google,I'll let you know.I'm pretty sure the watkins ranch is out north off hwy 83 from Uvalde.

Wow, I'm sure looking forward to this hunt. The Watkins Ranch sounds like a super place to search, with or without a detector.

Being on/in the river is also a big part of my plan................ and the slough at Ed's place.

Thanks for the update WSD.

Sounds like fun, WSD! I want to find Indian artifacts but I'm not venturing into a cave unless Steve goes in first to get rid of the snakes & provides lighting for me, other than that I'm ready to detect.

Another member of the South Texas Metal Detectors sent me a link to your site, and I just joined. My wife and I would like to attend your October hunt in Uvalde if it is open to new members. We're from Edinburg (South south Texas), and I used to live in Uvalde. I'm quite familiar with Fort Inge which is also called Pilot's Point as it was a stagecoach stop at one time. Looking forward to meeting everyone on the 16th. We will be RV camping if sites are available there.

Standing by for further info

Thanks, Tee! Most of the things some people normally bring anyway...I'll add to the list, not everything is mandatory...just a general purpose list. Seems most of the hunts had provided bottled water...but it's always best to have your own too.
