Has anyone located a site through the Official Records in the last couple years and then found a site that wasn't pounded into oblivion? I'm just wondering if the ORs are as valuable as they used to be. Since they've been used as a resource for so long, I was wondering if their value as a primary source hasn't greatly diminished.

I guess it all depend's on where you live Bama.....As a matter of fact I've still got a property that I'm looking at that I found through an OR,I don't know what to expect but I'll sure give it a once over if I do get permmission....in other word's I take every lead I can get

I always involve the OR's in my research. You just never know. Between old maps,Google earth and the OR's I have been able find some nice things..

Good luck to ya

Well, the obvious sites mentioned in the OR's--yeah. Beaten to death for the most part. But I sometimes go on one line of one document to find sites.

Pardon my ignorance but is this stuff all online?

Like BB said. The two or 3 sentences or the words "I sent a picket to the north crossing" can result in pocket fulls of Marshall Texas Enfields. We read and re-read the OR accounts of our area on a regular basis. Found a place, useing the OR's, last Feb. that apparently was to obvious and folks thought it had been hit befor, it wasnt. Hundreds of bullets and better than a 100 buttons and other assorted stuff later, we are still finding stuff over there, although pickins are slower now. And as soon as duck/goose season is over we have found a couple of more places we are gonna hit. Use the OR's they are great...d2

Thanks D2, as soon as deer season is over this month we have a couple of sites to check out ourselves. Hopefully, the results will be a little better this time.
