Very frustrated with AT Pro. Need help

I was detecting in a field yesterday and had a similar issue. I stopped swinging and the pro still made noise. Changed freq and helped a little. I decided to manual ground balance and that also helped. I was still getting some eratic signals but was also getting good tones too. I'm pretty sure it was very mineralized ground. I'm going to try again today to see if it happens again. I wonder if the cold weather could be an issue too not sure about that. There is wifi from the house about 100 to 200 yards away.

...Now sandman you mean that calling the AT a boat anchor is not bashing.?? :laughing9: LOL

No Keppy, only the ones that don't work as advertises.

Went out and worked great in same area. Before I went out I cleaned coil had some dirt on it did a factory reset and removed coil wire and reinstalled.

My favorite place to hunt rite now is so full of iron but I have found my oldest coins and relics there. My wife and kids are going to get me the 5 by 8 coil and sampson 31" t handle for Christmas. I was going to order them but wife says I'm hard to buy for and wanted to get them for me. I hope the smaller coil does good in this site. The big coil goes nuts in this 1800's home site. Just a field now. Sandman or anyone else have any exp with the smaller coil? Do you think it is the one I need or the sniper coil? Thanks for any help. Sry for hijacking the thread.

Sounds like you ground balanced over top of some metal. Make sure there is no metal below when ground balancing or it will continually false.

Sandman.....Glad to see your up an running again...Those At-Pro's findings can be heart stoppings at times.

I have had what i thought were good signals at 8" in the 87 - 92 range but once i dug them more often than not there was something there but below 8" and most often it was a can. I even found a small battery at over 10" that rang up at a 92.

Those Button Batteries will really make your detector scream at you.

Along with being round that the detector is programmed to, they have manganese dioxide, silver oxide, carbon monofluoride & cupric oxide inside.

If you want to mess with a group of guys beach detecting, throw a handful of the really small battery buttons in their path. They fall through the scoop and will drive them nuts trying to figure it out. It's a joke, Guys! :) but it would.

A smaller coil is often referred to as a "sniper"coil because it can pick out one target amount many. Especially good for trashy places as you have a better chance of getting one target under the coil at a time. It also is a great choice for pinpointing, which saves time to allow you to swing for more coins or rings.

Now that's just mean. Being on the receiving end of not being able to keep a small item in the scoop makes me stay there till I get it up in daylight. .22 shells are bad enough.

By The Way, I am still in physical Rehab learning to walk again. Thank you guys for all the kind thoughts.
