Pine Tree

Most well used Pine Trees look like this one. They were constructed well and would withstand many, many resharpenings. As you can see, the business end is significantly narrower that the base, that's how this type evolves. The disparity is obvious and with an open mind, you can visualize how wide this type would have been early on.

Point taken, no really Ill take it.

Early Stage Pine Tree...there are much better examples than this one but I'm sure you can see that this one isn't representative of what we think a Pine Tree should look like. These are rare in this form so too perhaps is the OP's artifact.....just keeping an open mind, that's all....

One picture seems to make it look like a corner notch and if here I would say Kirk. The other angle make it look to be a side notch which would be a whole different scenario. Can you tell us what type of notching it has? Maybe Twitch or Grim will stop by and check it out. Nice find is that a personal find and any other artifacts associated with it? 1320 is showing a corner notch. Thanks!!

It is a side notch from what i can tell. One of the notches looks E notched. It is a personal find. It was found abt 1.5 ft down under and abt 4 ft from the knife below. Also found this other broken point in the barn wall near the dig sight.

Thank you for taking the time to explain that to folks who may not realize that holds true to alot if not most point types. My patients is not what it once was at times.

really?

Yes really ... you for sure.

Not sure. The broke base one looks like a kirk. The side notch and you saying possible e-notch with parallel flaking looks like a big sandy but that would not be right unless you were in the southern portion maybe near Kentucky. They all look early archaic to me. I am just guessing and trying to throw out ideas. I will say that they all are very nice finds. Hopefully some experts will weigh in.
