I'm totally stoked! She's toasted but great looking to me!

Beat my old record by a quarter century!

Great find Scrappy! Always fun to get your oldest

I'm with evolution. Looks like William III. Congrats on your oldest may have missed the 1700s and went to 1600s. HH!

But it's not Willie. It's an older head KG III.

Wistful thinking makes me think it's William III, so I defer to the masses. But holy s@#% it's worn!

I keep going back and forth over the three points on the head.

Nice digs and thank you for sharing those pictures

I think Iron Patch probably said it best. I've never found a genuine George III, but I have found several counterfeits. 1775 seem to be far and away the most popular date for ctft's. Here's a couple I found. Good chance that is what you found. Just an FYI, on the second photo showing the reverse the shield is a dead giveaway that it is NOT a Machins piece. On this piece the lines of the cross are outlined. On the Machins coinage they are not.

To me it wouldn't matter if it was real or counterfeit. All I would know is that I am holding something from the colonial period and that would be good enough. Good job

COLONIAL!!!!!!!

To find a Regal KGIII Halfpenny in the states would be the unusual find, I have only seen one confirmed States find that was a Regal, out of hundreds posted over the years, between myself and close friend and my son, with over 100 KGIII Halfpence between us, everyone of them is counterfeit. And it does matter on being counterfeit, they are the ones that are collectible, whereas the demand for a Regal KGIII Halfpenny ground found is basically NIL..............Don
Yes, your copper is a KGIII as many have said.

That's great information. Thanks!
