Ok I'm going to bust a bubble. In England aren't you required by law to turn any ancient artifacts over to the national museum? I've seen a few articles about people finding coins and the gov shows up and takes them. So how do you get away with it?

Now that's asked, man what a find. Wish we dug stuff like that here in the USA!! Oldest we can get is around 1700's if we're lucky. And most of that is gone due to the construction companies tearing up the dirt and taking it to site dumps. We've lost tons of our history like that. But the American way is tear out the old and put up new. I hate that policy!!!

No bubble to bust here & no getting away with anything. Every find that I'm required by Law to hand in gets handed in within the required 14 days. I have a small pipeline of stuff (in reality only about 2-3 a year) which goes through the system & out the other side (mostly handed back to me) about 18 months later.

That said, this coin (being a single one on its own) does not require handing in. However, our code of conduct suggests rare coins like this get recorded & like all our finds we GPSed it & it will be recorded via the voluntary scheme like all our Celtic & Saxon coins.

Holy moly, you sure know how to reel them in. I am sure your Celtic silver would amaze the most seasoned European detectorist and it is for that reason I amsubmitting yet another Banner vote for one of your finds.
Congrats Cru, I can't wait to see what you and your Dad bring up next time.
ZDD

It amazed us. We had a whole year last year with no Celtic Silver & its been 21 months since our last one, although this is the rarist & nicest I have found in about 9 years.

You don't ever need no pat on the back for your finds, you have proven you are good at what you do.:laughing7: But once again you went the extra mile & found another worthy object to be proud of.:occasion14: Continue on mate.
Take care,
Pete,:hello:

One of about a dozen, and it couldn't look any nicer.
Some of the really old coins are kind of crude, and don't do much for me, but I like those Celtic ones, silver or gold, id take either.

Jeeze Cru, you're killing it now! Looks like you might have yourself a hot coil for Fall!

I haven't been able to find ANY celtic silver here in North Carolina. It's like they weren't even here. ???

Great finds!

THANKS - Everyone.

It's one to remember!

Has to be a banner nomination for sure . my vote is in.

I'll break the 'what's it worth?' ice... I have to know. What's retail on a gem like that? Congrats CRUSADER. You have, well, most of the fun.
