Victory was swift but the aftermath was hell.

It happens ALL THE TIME!!! As soon as I got out the truck walk across the street my very first signal was a 12-13 8-9” I dug the plug and out popped a 1899 V nickel. No this has happened several times before and it’s been a curse this time was no different. Spent the next 5hrs pulling trash and 3 wheats. Next time it happens I swear I’m getting in the truck a going home.

Nothing the rest of the day but a wheat penny. But, in reverse I’ve hunted all day and didn’t get anything good and while detecting my way back to the truck, found a day maker.

Dont be too upset about the 1899 V, I found one just like it at a turn of the Century School site, but yours is in better condition..
Mine has a beautiful even Copper color but is so smooth that the date is the only thing that really is readable along with a few stars and just a shadow of the V and the Head. Strangely enough, I havent found anything else worth a dang at that site since.

Check this out I went to a lot and hit a 1900 Barber Half black patina and all and deep. Couldn’t even find a wheat after and went back 4 times because I just couldn’t except it.

And it was in the next state over lol

I know how you feel. Took 6 steps from my truck and dug a nice little decorated flat button....then nothing but shotgun shells for the next 2 hours. Nice V buddy
