Vintage Microscope Question

Purchased an vintage Bosch and Lomb lab grade microscope in very good condition but needs a little cleaning and possible lubrication.
Any thoughts on what to use/ not to use on this 1898 edition?
This scope could come in handy looking at smaller objects fine detail with the lower powers.
Anyone use a microscope?

I would go to the Bausch and Lomb website and contact them. If it's a rare item, they might want to trade with you for a new microscope. If not, they will have cleaning instructions.

To clean such with that age, the item usually has to be taken apart. It should be done by a professional with the proper tools to remove an replace the lenses after cleaning. Also the pivots and the rack and gear need to be cleaned and properly greased.

Since you are using a computer, look in the toy section at your local stores. They have a few at good prices that work with computers. Alows for some good photos that way also.

I`m not setup to send a picture at this time but have a large flatbed scanner that i`ll try scanning a picture out to your email.
Since this is no dimestore microscope I think the cleaning and lubrication is all it needs since it has no rust and works properly.
Looks like it was kept in a dry location throughout its 110 years of life.
All the lens seem to be in good condition for the age but needs a little cleaning etc.
