WANTED: Hikers to help document the conclusion of the Peralta Stone Maps

Wayne we have had record heat here for the last month. You need a gallon of water to get to the mail box around the corner. Not good for a walk in the Superstitions right now I'm going to Prescott for a club hunt In a good spot Sat. I'm up for a walk after things cool off. I'm willing to use my special talents to help you check over the sites with my equipment. Just need help getting it in. At least you will know where you stand and in the long run less work. I traded some guns for a boat and have been messing with that to pass the time while it's hot.

6.5 keep in mind treasure books are good for getting a feel on the subject. Do not depend on them leading you to the target. In most cases they will send you off in the wrong direction. A direction many others followed before you. Think outside the box or in this case the book. The key is footwork in the correct area. The trick is finding the correct area.

Hopefully, with the shindig a week later this year, it won't be as warm as last year was.
Help with the carrying shouldn't be any problem, and I'd rather see rows of little flags in the dirt than a buncha holes ruining the landscaping.
Maybe we can talk you into a day outing on the boat as well. The Bat cave is easy to get to by boat, and I would love to be able to get some photos of the Skeleton Cave area as well, even if only from the river below.

Not only that, but he wants to go back.......so he's hooked.

Hi Frank! Sorry I won't make the Rendezvous this year - I was looking forward to saying hello to you again - you're an interesting person to talk with . I saw on Facebook recently where Tom Kollenborn posted a photo of the Mormon Flats are BEFORE it became Canyon Lake - certainly gets one's imagination going on what interesting things may be under that water!

Wayne - I wish I could make it this year, but it seems like a perfect storm of crap that's combining this time and I'm just not gonna be able to go. I'm gonna see about maybe spending a week out there next spring.

Hell, maybe that's where the LDM really is ?
Then again, with all the digging that went on out there, there might be a few old mines under the lake.
If the Spanish were grinding ore somewhere along the river, as the Peralta/Fish map seems to show, there might still be signs of an old trail somewhere along the river bank. Unless that's all under water now as well.

I'm sorry to hear that you can't make it.
I don't know what's in the cards for next spring yet.

Anyone who has ever met or talked to Paul, and attends the Rendezvous, will be sad to
hear that he won't be there this year.

Paul has become a "regular" at the event, and has contributed to it's popularity and success.
Since this will probably be our last year as camp hosts, it will be even more disappointing
for us.

Wayne bring your diving gear. Perhaps looking down may be better than looking up. Next time I talk to the discovery channel guys I'll see if they want to do a Dutch hunter show. Now that would be interesting.

A few years ago, they drained the both lakes to do some dam maintenance.
I saw some pics that were taken when the water was gone, from Mormon Flat up to the marina area.
Nothing but a muddy mess from eighty years of silt.
I enjoyed the waters around the Keys and Tortugas, and the lagoons on Grande Roques, though.
Got spoiled I guess.
At least I could see what might be eyein me up for dinner.
Still, might be worth bringing some gear down in Oct.
I'd rather have it, than wish I did.

Discovery Channel ?
Might hold off on that a bit.
A story's always better when it's got a happy ending.

I don't know Frank - from the posts I've seen here and elsewhere since last fall, the "kitty" has quite a few new menu items to choose from. Seems many of them are too busy spotting carvings on every rock they come across to be bothered to watch out for the hungry residents of those mountains . On the other hand, most of them are still posting, so he (or she?) may be waiting for you to show up to pounce!

I'll have a .357 next time I'm out that way, so my wife will have far less to worry about (and I suppose I will too - hehe).

6.5 the old way was to read some tainted material. Go on your hunt for years and then after you fail write your own tainted material so a few others could do the same. A snake eating it's tail.
The new way is to put the bull on TV. The public wants to sit in front of the TV and watch your adventure. Team up with some experts and you may find something. If you don't you still had a blast and made some money. More than those who came before you. Plus it pretty hard for someone to cut your head off in front of the camera. Though that would make a good episode. If Barry Storm was alive today you would be watching him on TV not reading his book. Same bull just a new way of the public receiving it.

Nice of you to say Joe - thanks. Quite honestly, I think I take away far more from each Rendezvous than I'm able to give - even more than the prizes I seem to be lucky enough to win .

I'll be there in spirit, and I'm already looking forward to seeing the photos and perhaps hearing tapes of some of the talks if Greg has his recorder going.

Whether you and Carolyn are camp "hosts" or not, I hope you guys still keep coming for as long as you can.
