I cant believe my luck ! I just got my new headphones this morning but the rain was coming down hard >:( FINALLY it let up for a bit so I headed to the orchard. Swinging along and digging trash......... I thought for sure that this signal was some more junk. Not very deep, so I was not very carefull. BAM !! Belt plate was in my hand and I was doing the happy dance!
I managed to hit it with my shovel but.......... oh well, I have a freekin' belt plate :headbang:

Here are some pics, only dry cleaned so far.

It looks like there are many differences ! I wonder if there are different varieties? Does anyone know? Your belt looks like a keeper too :headbang:

Thanks for posting yours. Now you have me wondering....

I was told mine was made only in 1810 then they switched styles but I assumed they went to the eagle and banner type.

I wonder if it could be as simple as a different batch? More than one "die" to stamp the belt plates?
As one would wear out they would put in another. :dontknow:

Wow very cool....congrats :icon_thumright:

In my four years of metal detecting I have been pretty lucky with my finds. I have a G.W. Button, Blacksmith Token, Two USA pewter buttons, and a KILLER 1800 Large Cent but the Belt Plate is a little more special to me. I may find more buttons and coins but I bet I wont find another 1812 Belt Plate!

Merry Christmas to all, VPR
