The easiest way is to tell if it's a fake is to look at the price. The fake ones are selling forunder $100.00, as low as $55.00. If you order one, it will be shipped from China. PLEASE....buy from a reputable dealer! Those great deals aren't so great when you see how much of a piece of junk the knockoffs are, and good luck trying to get your money back. I saw them on the Chinese wholesale site a month ago. They evidently use a picture with a real Garrett box. But you got to watch the guy that buys ten then puts them on eBay. Lots of Minelab stuff on there too. When you see a $1200.00 detector for $300.00 run like the wind.

Wondered about the two pinpointers that I have. Way before I read this. One of the boxes has a small white circle on a corner, smaller than a dime that reads, Garrett quality Made in the USA ISO 9001 certified. the other box does not. The bar code on the end are not identical either. Very sinilar, but definite differences. Any suggestions or wisdom? One was sent to me as a replacement, the other has never been sent in. Both of them seem to have good days and not as good of a day. Both bought from a long time detector dealer over the counter. No mail order involved.

Not trying to bash anyone, just kind of wondering outloud.

I just checked, My propointer box does not have a small white circle on a corner, smaller than a dime that reads, Garrett quality Made in the USA ISO 9001 certified.

except for the white circle you speak of...it is on the outside the cap though



But I know mine is real. it came from RWJR13 in 2011 when he was a dealer.
& Garrett worked on it recently

Some days when my Pro Pointer seems to act up I wonder if it is a knock off but I know better. I love my Pro Pointer. It's worth every bit of the $125 I paid for it. I won't buy anything from ebay or someone that is not a reputable vendor. Anything pertaining to metal detecting i stick with sponsored vendors from TNET
