This was our last stop of the day. After striking out at two other locations (save for one merc) we decided to hit a local nature preserve that showed up as an old homesite in the 1950s

The homesite in question was littered with lots of shallow modern trash. just as we were about to write the day off as a loss, we spotted a old spring house that had recently been renovated, about 100 yards from the 1950s homesite. after swinging our detectors nearby we started to get some nice signals. The first signal I pulled was this guilted button, my buddy found one that was identical and we were both very pleased to see how nicely they cleaned up. Also, I pulled fragments of a luggage tag that had just enough legible writing to be able to track down the owner. The owner was a prominent dairy tycoon from Philadelphia, and the railroad information on the tag matched the local rail line. Any info on dates ranges for the buttons would be appreciated. It looks as though the shank was cast in boss and is a solid ring instead of a wire. thanks for looking!

Dandy Buttons are 1750-80, but mostly used in the later period in the US, as fashions took time to travel from England.
