But the only connection so far seems to Be GMail.
and for the most Part Football/Baseball So possibly Sports Networks Paying them to spam us of course I won't click to them to check.
& Don't recommend anyone on TreasureNet click the links.

The countries of Origin seem to be spread out.

Jeff, been fighting this on my astronomy site for months now, and I boot
5-10 of these spam-maggots a day (2 of 'em just 5 min. ago).

On my site we require "Country" and "Location" as part of the registration,
and in addition all new registrations must be approved by my fellow Admin
or myself. In the case of the spammers, they use some outrageous user name,
and then they pick some odd country and the "location" is the dead giveaway,
as it's most always a Vietnamese name. They're coming from VietNam, Russia
and China. I use VBulletin same as Tnet.

They also use an IP mask, so the IP you see in their registration will change
every time they jump on to register another user name.

It might be a pain with the number of registrations y'all get, but by changing
over to moderated registration you'll nail 99% of the asshats before they can
ever post to the site.

I've got a great nose for busting spammers, but I'll pass on the contest;
got enough of my own to deal with.

LOL, somehow I missed this thread when it posted. I don't know why, but those spam posts just jump out at me. The combo of name and thread title are just not consistent with TNET threads in general.

Anyway, I HATE those spammers! Glad to help ID them so they can be booted.

There's a few dead giveaways if they do get fully registered.

The username is most always a complete jumble of letters that make
no sense at all, and they'll often be 3 to 4 numbers on the end of the
username.

They like to dig up ancient threads, and then add a post..which also doesn't
make sense, as it will be a very general comment such as:

"Thanks for the post, it was a lot of help."

There will also be a link either at the bottom of the post,
or highlighted within the post itself.

when I have seen spammers... I just assumed someone already knew... or would know soon enough.

actually that's a Sarcastic Joke.
The frequency of Spam posts has been decreasing
since the day I started this Thread.
in fact it has been so close to the day I started it,
That it may be coincidence or the public affirmation we consider them
unwelcome that Helped slow it down. But more then likely it's coincidence.
I think Baseball is thankfully over for the Year.
and the Majority I saw, I think was on streaming that crap
