Weekend hunt scores a bit of silver [Pics added]

$100 in nickels (80 in machine wrapped, 20 in CWR) produce a 1945-P war nickel and a weird (MWR) roll. It had a 1939 ender, the roll contained 4 1939, 3 1938, 2 1940 and a 1942 (non-war).

$15 in CWR dimes produce nothing. But a teller saved me a blackened dime that sounded like silver, I couldn't read the date (but knew it was a Roosie) so got out the silver polish and managed to clean it up enough to know its a 1952 (and yes, I know you aren't supposed to clean coins but when the coin is so black you can't tell silver from clad, let alone the year... its worth it).

$80 in halves produce 1 1966 40%er.

$25 in pennies produce 5 wheats, oldest was a 1919.

Overall 3 silver coins aren't too bad.

Also went to a garage sale today, walked in, saw a jewelry box opened and saw a Seated Liberty half dime looking up at me, I asked how much and they said a quarter. Its soldered on a loop and a chain to make an earring. Its a 1853 with arrows and has uniform black toning. The reverse is an etched love token. I tried taking pictures but I only have a cell phone camera and it ended up turning out to just be a black blob... Overall a good find for 25 cents.

thats an AWESOME garage sale! half dimes are worth some good money, especially in love token format... should be able to sell that for a great amount on ebay, or keep it as a cool thing for your silver pile!

Yeah, as far as I can tell its a fairly common date, the engraving really isn't that interesting, but is better than the one I paid $10 for (1870 half dime) though the coin was in better condition than mine. I'll probably keep it, I've always liked love tokens and to get one for pocket change is always good. I'm surprised I found it at a garage sale, on the days that I make an effort to make it to garage sales early I either find they have no coins or they want $75 each for their 1921 Morgans.
