Got out to a fort site with my brother for our bi-yearly relic hunt. I used to dig weekly and now with family, work, and a house I feel fortunate to get out every few months! Anyway, this site is huge, rural and contains some quality finds if you are willing to hunt among a million nails. Last hunt produced a nice set of period brass knuckles in a deep privy and I was dead set on getting in to another one in hopes of digging western glass. After a full day of probing, countless test holes and 2 already dug privies, we decided to spend the last few hours detecting and sifting. I have always wanted to dig a complete Infantry Horn and this was the trip. Lots of pieces have surfaced in the past, but never a complete example. With the trip winding down this beauty surfaced under a bush. Other digs include a nice Cavalry Cuff, eagle buttons, J hooks, a pewter drawer pull, Borman frag and bullets. I believe the token would have been a rare one, however it was burnt beyond recognition. Well... good to be out digging again. Thanks for looking and good luck in the field.
