Welcome to the site! Please post an introduction thread.

Hi everyone, my name's Bill, I live in the center of California in the San Joaquin valley. Have been wanting to get a metal detector for years and just never did it. So today I ordered my first one. Teknetics gamma 6000. Of course I know nothing about metal detectors so I'm not sure what I've spent $499.00 on. LOL I look forward to reading all the posts to find out what other accessories I need and to see what you all have found. Thanks for allowing me into your world. This really seems to be an addicting hobby. I look forward to it! Thanks again, Bill.[/QUOTe

Welcome Bill,

We always here to help out

New to the forum but not to the hobby.. Been Metal Detecting since 1970 off and on. Sometimes life gets in the way...LOL
Have used all types of machines and currently am using a Minelab Exployer XS. Love it but it has one heck of a learning curve.
Thinking of getting a Garrett 250 for those days when I just want to run down to a local school yard for some "playing"..
Hope I can add to and get advice when needed.

Hey guys. I am a college freshman at Clemson university in South Carolina I am looking to start collecting Native American artifacts. I am hoping to find someone who will take me out and show me how to find them and what to look for in a place to look. thanks and if you are from the Clemson or Spartanburg area message me.

Hey how is everyone doing? Good to meet you guys(sort of). My first forum related dealings online. I wasn't to enthusiastic about forums, sometimes texting doesn't get the conversation across. But after doing much research online some things can only be answered via the forums from those that live the metal detecting/prospecting enjoyment everyday. So, hello!!! Lol!!!

Hello and Howdy, Glad to be reading and learning from you all. My name is Scott and I am into artifacts, meteors, gold, and fun. On accident I ran into an ancient American artifact while metal detecting, got the bug and have not stopped learning and finding since then. Best Time of my Life!

Hello.

I have been interested in metal detecting for over a year now, have been watching lots of videos on Youtube of the local (Pittsburgh, PA) treasure hunters from my area. I finally bought my first detector... it arrived FedEx today, very excited to get it.... after putting it together, playing with it in the living room for a few minutes and eating supper, I had about 15 minutes outside in the yard with the kids, we dug 2 holes and found 2 pieces of scrap metal before it was totally dark, but it was fun and can't wait to get back to it tomorrow evening and especially this weekend. Mostly think I will like the thrill of the hunt, hope to find lots of old coins and relics, but I expect to find mostly trash for a while until I figure out my detector.

I found this site searching the web for info on metal detecting and thought it looked like a good place to get together with other people who are into metal detecting, plus I figured I can probably learn some stuff someone new to the hobby needs to know.

I think I remember seeing information on here about a metal detecting or treasure hunting club that meets in Butler County, PA (where I live), but I can't seem to locate it again. If someone knows anything about this Butler Co. PA Metal Detecting Club, please contact me.

Hi everybody I am John from Croydon Pa. I am new to the game of dirt fishing. Just ordered my new machine a Quick Silver Metal Detector by Bounty Hunter. I guess it will do until better money comes along. If there is is anybody in my area , just message me.

New to Tnet, not to detecting. I haven't used my detectors much since the early 1980s. I started in 1980 with a cheapy, then a BH 840, etc. Really enjoy detecting. Just received a new BH Lone Star; of course, it started raining that night! Probably be a couple of more days before I can get out with it. I have been using (only a few times) a BH Tracker 2-D/707 and a little cheap Harbor Freight MD-3005. I still have the BH 840, but have problems with it. I may yet get it repaired. Really like the non motion type detectors much better. Maybe after I've used the motion type for a while, I'll get used to them and like them.
I'm an old Texan who moved to Idaho in 2007.

Hi, I live in NE Washington, and do quiet a bit of recreational prospecting, both with my metal detectors and with prospecting gear. I recently picked up a
mining claim in Alaska and plan on spending next summer up there mining. I'm giving some serious thought to becoming a snowbird, and spending
my summers up North and winters down South treasure hunting.

How do I start a new post or forum? It may sound silly, but I just recently found out that I am a descendant of Captain Morgan, and would like to know how to make a claim for the sunken treasure that was found that belonged to him?

I find that Treasure every time I stir my Egg Nog.
