Welcome buddy.you dug some serious bottles there.way to go.

Nice glass hope you didnt have to carry them far .I know where some pretty nice glass is around here ;but would have to carry them for almost a mile through some bad a$% bush ..Maybe someday I will go grab a few more ,I would just like someone who would appreciate them to have them ,if you were in my area I would give you their location. I do not have the space for then & a box in the attic really wont suite them. oh they are also from the 40-50-60s period.

Nice array of bottles there, congrats!!!!

Thanks and yeah it wasn't a fun walk but worth it. I live in NJ and if and always looking for new spots any help would be greatly appreciated.davers

Welcome! wow back when glass had class!!!

Hey if you are anywhere near Virginia I got loads of spots where 100s and 100s of 1950-1960 bottles are laying, I had a video I posted yesterday on here "Who would want to dig all this in a confederate camp" it shows a 1960 trash dump someone dumped next to the camp we use to hunt in. Ive collected 100s of motor oil cans and pepsi,dr pepper bottles out of these spots but im pretty much to the point where I only will pick up a motor oil cans now if i see them in a mid 20th century trash dump! I need to find more 1930-minus dump sites, that is where you can strike some very good finds! good luck and kewl bottles :occasion14:

Hello Mika,

Welcome to TNet, and thanks for showing us your finds. I remember my first bottle dump, and the excitement of finding all those cool old bottles.

The more I dug, and the more I learned about old glass, I came to realize that 90%+ of those first finds belonged in the recycling bin. Unembossed bottles & jars from this time period are just not collectible. There are notable exceptions in the soda & milk bottle realm, both embossed and ACL.

I'd be thinking of what glassy gems might lie below the surface layer...

I just ran mine through the dishwasher, and except for one or two, they came out pretty clean :) the narrow neck bottles might not clean well in the dishwasher so a pipe cleaner or toothbrush might serve you well there. For mine, which were mason jars, I just used dish detergent and a sponge. It's glass; not precious metals, or old coins... using some elbow grease and soap on a Brillo sponge won't hurt them anymore than it did when you were a kid and Mom said tonight was your dishes night.

Thank man yeah I figured old fission elbow grease would do it just see if there was some thing that could help speed up the cleanig

I use a baby bottle cleaner, it works pretty good.
