Went to the beach today....

[TreasurdiggrNY]

And found my first gold ring ever, WOW what a day. The only marks on the ring are on the inside it says .585. I will never forget this ring or the people connected to it.
I was at the beach with a friend of mine today, he was about 300 yards away from me and when I found it, my emotions got the best of me. For whatever reason, I started jumping up and down like a maroon yelling "I got one, I got one!".
My friend comes over, he's been detecting since the mid 70's and says, "alright let's see it". I dig it out of the pouch and he looks it over and says "that is a great ring". We talk a little more and he says,"You know you can't sell that one right"? I tell him "Yeah I know, I could never do that anyway". Thanks for looking.

H e ll uva find. In the end it's all just "stuff". Of course you can sell it (my opinion). Especially with gold flirting with 900$USD an oz!? First time in known modern history! If ya got to do it emotional ties to things just weigh ME down...Most of the things I find I try to get a fair dollar value on then sale/trade or hold on to. The wife has enough stuff so if I turn it into cash it eases stress on bills!!!! Damn those bills.

Congratulations man, I'm still looking for my first gold ring.

That's funny, when I reported to the boat in '83 it was in Portsmouth. You guys did a great job on that boat, It is decomissioned, that was a great boat, we did the sea trials out of Portsmouth, had a lot of the shipyard workers on board. We went on to win the battle "E" award, great crew.
Glenn

Yah 82-84 was the time frame, thanks for the memories and many more gold rings your way
