What a Day! Found a Spill of the First Pull Tab from 1962! LOL!

A few weeks ago, I posted my "rare" 1962 to 1965 pull tab. This was the first pull tab used and it was the first one I had ever found. Well, today I hit the jackpot. I found a six pack spill of them! They were all at the base of a big old oak tree. Someone must have taken a long beer break while hunting that day!

They were pretty toasted, so I cleaned them with Loctite naval jelly. Came out really nice, even though the directions on the bottle tell you not to use it on aluminum. Yes, I actually cleaned up pull tabs! Sad!

Yup, should have kept the crud on them. Now their going to be harder to sell at Heritage Auctions next month! LOL!

Okay, I read your post yesterday and look what I found today! The first one
I've seen like this in the two years that I've been detecting.

Hang on to that one, it's not a common find! You guys think I'm kidding, but I swear I never saw one of these pull tabs until a few weeks ago.

They do bring back a little history. It was a time when you could have a brewskee in your window cup holder of your car, and noone would think anything of it. Hard to imagine now.

Nothing wrong with cleaning up the "older" classic pull tabs. I do as well and actually keep them. Funny thing is I tend to get a few at a time as well. Must be bored hunters chugging beers in the woods. :drunken_smilie:

Yup, take a break and lean back against an old tree and have a few. Hopefully, it was more than one hunter!

Also forgot to mention that I found an old key at the same spot. Made by the Independent Lock Co. of Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Always a neat find.
