what a messed up city I live in

If the snow type and temp is just right, it can stop up everything in any city, even us northern ones. A few years ago I spent seven hours on what is normally a 40 minute trip because even 4 wheel vehicles couldn't get over the iced up roads. It happens. Only solution is to take a vacation day if you have to and stay home when there is this kind of weather headed your way. Hope everyone made it home or to shelter safely and that melts quick.

Exact same situation here in Alabama. The winter storm from yesterday SHUT US DOWN!!!! It's been a nightmare....the roads and interstates were littered all day long and all night here with wrecked or just flat out abandoned vehicles. :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

I wouldn't say due to a bunch of idiots though......not here anyway. Just horrible weather that was not forecasted properly at all. And it is a pretty rare occurrence here to experience what we have been experiencing lately. Really bad winter.....

NOLA was shut down last night...the 2,000+ convention folks were stuck there cause the airport was closed. The clubs were opened on Bourbon Street, so foot traffic was heavy. Anyway, north of Lake Pontchatrain where I live, we were under a curfew, as soon as it lifted this morn there were more than 45 wrecks. Under a curfew again for tonight. Never reached 34 today & what did manage to thaw will freeze again...going down to 19. I'm so ready for Spring to get here.

The real sad part is they act like this only happened once 2 or 3 years ago here,, never happened before.. It happens EVERY 2 or 3 years here folks not the first time .. /headbonk
Must be all that human global warming! ;) and probably start being 'more' frequent in southern N.A.. Because everyone knows Mother Earth never changes right!...just ask the dinosaurs!...I mean, their fossilized bones!

Nice 3D rose Frankn!
TJE nice of you to leave some newspaper for kitty after take'n her kitty litter!

I'm surprised that well equipped states haven't sent their snow plows & etc down there, the electric and fire co. help each other out all the time, when bad weather hits.
Ice is the problem, you can drive thru snow ok with out too problems unless it gets deep. Blizzard of 1978, Rt128 up here was a parking lot of cars and trucks, so we feel your pain! I tell the kids when driving on snow or ice don't do any thing fast, or you'll be hugging something and it won't be me!

Sounds like the powers that be down there need an extreme emergency back up plan.
Hope it warms up quickly and melts all the bad stuff for ya!
Ha! Mbb, She loves sleepin on paper..and even knows how to block pesky lightbulbs (pic) when sleeping! ;)....All joking aside, those that "want to be in authority/run the show"...should all be ready! It isn't called "Winter" for nothin!! ;)

What's weird is that in Central Europe it's a sauna! My luck will be when I go back it'll freeze, oh well!

It happens Uncle Jeff, you'll remember in the middle of the night.

TJE- I concur with kitty, I don't like light shinning in my face when I'm trying to sleep either, beautiful cat by the way.
Those in power just want to hold the wheel they don't want to get out and push!

Looks like most of us will be getting a slight reprieve. Make it count because there is another storm front being thrown our way! Where's that darn groundhog....I want to have a talk with him!

I agree! I had to dig out again yesterday - only six inches of snow but 18 inch drifts because of wind. And today, the worst - seems my coffee delivery is delayed nearly a week because of the southern storms. I just can't do without that coffee (Green Mountain Rain Forrest Nut) , so you guys better not get hit by another storm til Fed Ex gets it up here.
