Hello everyone!

It has been a while since I last posted. I have found a few points the last few months that I need to post but something else is on my mind today.

I have found many stones in creeks and plowed fields that have similar markings on them.

The first pic is a stone I found in a creek. The linear marks only occur on the one side. I have found others in this creek like this. Are these man made and of so what was it from. Only other thing I can think of would be maybe a glacier but I have no idea..

The other pic shows a few stones that I found in a filed with a few points, a Celt and other debitage. I always thought the marks were from plows hitting them. I don't even know if these are artifacts but to me it looks like the stobe on the right shows signs of pecking in the middle.

What do you think? Are they artifacts and if so, what made the marks? ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1418846031.267829.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1418846045.337574.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1418846069.416783.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1418846089.099044.webp

Hard to get three lines to converge by accident in the middle like on several of those stones. Not impossible, but improbable, and I would lean towards those being done by the hand of man.

Im going to call tilling marks on those. I hunt many fields as well. Now if I found them in a creek or the woods I might think other but in the field I would have to say disc or no till marks. Now lets see those points.

Thanks for the input! Here are the last two that I found. Although, I'm not sure they are both projectile points. The Adena looks like the tip was broken and reworked into a tool of some sort.

Well.. You already called one by a point type name...and yes the other is a side notched point

Thanks!

I agree! Nice points. The rocks... My thoughts first were glacial. And/or plow. Hard to say much conclusively- crossed lines, etc... Still- good field and certainly more! Yakker

Check out the in situ of the Adena. I was mighty proud of spotting that one!ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1418963381.370061.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1418963173.936978.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1418963438.804067.webp

Last year I did some pic taking of my finds. I actually saw another point in one of the pics I took and posted that I had missed. I went back the next week and found it. Good luck and I hope you find many more, rock

That's a great story! I may have to go back and review my pics to make sure I didn't miss anything! :)

Its a lesson learned. Here is the one I went back and found. I always look real good in the area now if I find 1 before I leave.
