What are these worth.

I was just at the bank making a deposit and this penny showed up in the change from the teller. When i saw it i couldn't believe it, It looks like it's mistruck,

So i asked the teller and she just laughed and said i got one of the banks weird penny's. Did i want it or do i want a new penny.

I said it was kinda cool and asked if she had any more. Well the she called over the manager and asked him and he said they recieved a whole bag full, DID i want any of them because they were going to send them back. I said i'd take a look and they have about 1000 coins. All mistruck.

I told the manager that i wanted them for Christmas gifts so he sold me a bag of about 1000. Now does anybody know what there worth.

And once in a while the skys open up an good things happen. Outstanding and unbelievable find. Which bank did you go to? I think I'll change my account. I'll bet those were supposed to be destroyed at the mint and somehow got out instead. Put a few on ebay at a time, maybe two with dates and a couple without. Best of luck with them. That is an incredible find. I've been collecting coins for 44 years and I've never heard of such a thing happening on such a large scale. As has already been mentioned, these were probably pulled out of the production line by mint inspectors and were never supposed to be sent to a bank. The mints will not intentionally let a mistruck coin get into circulation. I too would say that if you put these on E-bay, put just a few at a time. Congratulations on a once-in-a-lifetime find. Keep us updated on how things go.

I think that is a very incredible find, like someone else mentioned, you've happened upon a throw-away or re-melt bag that wasn't meant for circulation. I would get hold of a good coin dealer......

Well you guys got me going, so this morning the bank manager called me. I had left my number there and said if you found any more just call me i'd take them.

WELL HE DID,,,,, He said they had them for about 6 hours. He had another 250 more. So i just about came out of my seat ( after hearing the news from you guys)

My hands were shaking when he gave me two more smaller bags. Here's the pic of yesterdays bag and the two new ones

Their all within three years. 1000, 2000, 2001. Some are slightly darkened, but most look brand new, with no wear.

I'm wondering how i should store them so they don't discolor
