What are your best finds in circulation?

What is the best coin or coins that you recieved in change or "sniped" out of a register? I recently found sniped a 2006 silver proof state quarter at a baseball game which is why I am creating this thread. Other than that I have found one rosie. So lets see them.

Working a retail register, I've found about 10 silver dimes (two of them Mercs), a 1937 full date buffalo, about 5 war nicks, 2 rolls of wheats and pre-'60 Jefferson nickels, 2 silver quarters ('47-D and a '64) and about $10 in clad halves and 3 $2 bills.

Stopped at a gas station and handed her a half dollar (I needed to dump them and wanted to save my bills) and she dropped it into the bottom and I heard the silver jingle. So I said I apoligize but do you have any other halves, and she said yes and pulled a 1953 franklin and a 1969 kennedy and I bought them and my half back at face value. She said it made her day now that she wont have to count them. Almost an ounce of silver for $1.

Can't wait till I develop the "silver ear"

I've also been working on my "silver ear". When I go through a box of halves I sound check every roll by clinking them all together without looking at them first to see if I can tell before edge checking which ones have silver in them. My husband is very good at this & can hear silver in someone's pocket walking up to his register at work LOL He'll hear silver in a roll I'm going through from another room

The only thing bad about it is if a teller is giving you some loose ones and they drop them on the counter, you have to pretend NOT to be excited, lol.

+1, been there before, your just preying they just hand them over without looking at them to much. I had one that was trying to wipe off a 68 before she gave it to me, I was anxiuos to get it out of her hand and told her, it's ok the kids will clean them when we get home, lol. Maverick.

Got a standing liberty quarter from a casino. dateless

1922 mercury dime in change from a local donut shop

Just click a 40%er and a clad together and you can tell. I can hear halves clicking together about a mile away now. :laughing7:

Yea I don't think I could hear one in someone's pocket but I definitely noticed the sound difference. My favorite is flipping it into the airmwitnyour thumb. The sweet humming sound of silver is so ice.

I can hear if they have halves on them, but pockets muffle silver to my ears, haha.

When I open a roll and move them around to edge check I can hear it sometimes before I see it too, that is if you don't have a bright 90% edge looking back at you, which I don't too often, lol. Maverick.

I was buying some smokes at a gas station back in March. Attendant had the register opened and with my eagle eye I spotted 2 toned halves sticking out of the last slot. So I asked if I could purchase all them and dude said that will be $8.50. Went through them in the car and got 9 40% ers :)

Maybe its the musician in me, but I can hear silver a mile away lol. When I ask for halves and the tellers collect them, I know if I will be skunked based on the sounds. HH!

I got a 59 Ben from a Bank Rolled half roll.

Super Shiny - I thoght it was a proof, but - - -it's not!

Just got a 54-d Rosie in change at work a few minutes ago! I haven't found silver in my change in years. Best ever would be a silver quarter or two 20 - 30 years ago. Never really get good change finds unfortunately
