anyone have ideas? here lookie now......it is made from a split rib bone....maybe split elk rib

it does appear to be functional and not all that decorative but those indents on the side seem to me to indicate that it "locked" in to something.

Or held onto something..like cordage is what I was thinking.. Sort of the weaving shuttle.
