Some moderators are more "delete happy" than others, but it was probably because it was a question and not a find.
You would think they would just move it though. Who knows?

it may have been a glitch, or maybe it didn't appear right up there
I don't know. I'm sure there was a reasonable reason So I didn't ask.

It's not often images are added and removed from the banner... but it CAN happen.
