The Merchant Royal is remembered as the ‘El Dorado of the Sea’- the galleon that sank off Land’s End, laden with treasure.
"It kept leaking after she and her sister-ship left Cádiz and, when the pumps broke down, she sank off Land's End in rough weather on 23 September 1641. Eighteen men drowned in the sinking. Captain Limbrey and 40 of his crew got away in boats and were picked up by Dover Merchant. It is not likely that the treasure was taken aboard the Dover Merchant."
Think about this, it's not confirmed that Dover Merchant carried the cargo unloaded form sinking MR but conventionally kept the record of recue in their log, which became a part of the first source(s) of witnessing.
I just noticed that everyone chasing for the MR from legends, materials like the historical pamphlets, letters and case records, barely on the DM... so and what happened to this vessel during the following voyage heading toward Dartmouth/London or nearby midpoints? who was the captain? The shiplog? There should be an overlooked and controversial keypoint.
