K Ladies, gentlemen, Id this for me. It is approx. 39" long x 3/8 " in diameter, with the flattened end approx. 3/4" in length and width. It is constructed of low grade iron.I o


I found it under perhaps 6" of topsoil with my trusty "GARRETT" ADS 7.

Sheeesh I can see that none of you ever drilled a hole in concrete or rock by hand, nor used explsives heheheh.

Last major hint before revealing something that even most miners would never guess.

A simple hand made tool that is very necessary for the small miner.

Well, yes, it's been a few years since I drilled into rock and capped that dynamite, it was the worst damn job I never had...lol.

So why do you keep saying "Small miner"... hum, must be a code word for something,... You have me thinking. Not good metal, so it cannot be a prying device as it will break. A handmade tool...

A leverage device for helping this tiny minor get proper pressure on the drill to function But the pot metal thing comes into play with that also.

I am still thinking but also looking for your answer when it finally comes... I might be back??

For dragging/scraping/cleaning the rock bits and dust out of the hole to keep it from jamming the dynamite upon insertion?

It's not a tamping rod as suggested earlier, those were brass to prevent sparking. Best guess would be to clear the debris from the hole of a single jack.

Tally ho cheese, you got the other end righ on.

Today they just put in a section of rubber hose and blow the debris out.
