As a trivet to rest a hot pot on, it's a decent size. I'm leaning toward the "A Christmas Carol" ID because of the other semi-matching item on eBay. Yours could be Scrooge in his nightcap. The one for sale on eBay could be Jacob Marley.

Both roughly match those characters as they're normally portrayed but I'm just spit balling here. I'm not sure what they are.
