Seems like a member made a huge find which allowed him to retire early. I don't recall many details except that he was very worried about getting murdered for it if the word got out.

What about the guy that FOUND 9 TONS of gold and 7 1/2 TONS of silver plus gems, precious jewelry, and coins in Pennsylvania? That’s got to be the best treasure story ever told here right? HAS TO BE.

There are so many GREAT FINDS . I think GOLD finds lead the way but that is just my opinion !!!

I remember reading a post long ago about a guy who found a giant hoard of 19th century American gold coins in the woods. There were more coins than he could carry and he didn't have a bag that day so he used some of his clothes to fashion a sack that he carried the gold out with over a few back and forth trips. He then put all the coins in the shower of his house to clean them. When his wife got home he showed her all the gold in the shower and they became millionaires and retired happily ever after.

As I recall they were not gold coins..but they were coins...

Just one? I found a whole milk jug full at the recycling center looking for aluminum rod. They were from some school charity thing.

No, it was found by Treasurenet user Night Stalker back in 2007. He only shared the story here, it never made the news. There are still users here that can attest to the photos of the coins he posted before he deleted them. This is the link to the original story he posted:
