What is the most common size hole drilled into halves ?

Forum Friendlies, I was sitting in the drive thru lane at In and Out burgers today and a question came up that I think needs answering. What size hole do you find the most when searching half dollars ? Would you say Metric stands a chance in popularity of hole sizes ?Please get back to me with your findings. Thanks, Jim

Everybody knows that !

It's the size of the tip of whatever pocketknife the yayhoo uses to cut the ugly hole with....of course !

My papaws collection has a few Morgan dollars that have been punched with a square nail. Every old coin with a hole i've seen hasn't been drilled, but rather nailed. Poor people did this so they wouldn't lose the coin either by putting it on a necklace or sewing it onto their clothing/pocket. Builders of homes were also known to nail a silver coin above the doorway for good luck.
