Really? It's like glass but kinda brittle at some spots. I should go take a pic of the weird veins of it that shoot out of these hills. I don't think it's quartz but maybe... I don't know.. is there something else it could be?

It is Gypsum as ''jhunt'' has suggested. It is rather common out here in the western states.

Gypsum, I find it out in the Tumey hills here in California it is real close to the fault line, so a lot of different minerals are in the area including asbestos and cinnabar.
