What is this?

I found this today mostly buried in the ground. It is about 3 1/2” - 4” in diameter and weighs about 10 lbs. I called the loval museum to identify it, but they are closed to the public due to Covid 19.

What part of the country did you find this in Chuck?
If you can picture it next to a can of soda for scale, that would help.

I'm guessing a cannonball. Precise weight and measurement would help the experts here.

If its a cannon ball that Slotted circle spot might be a plug. When I was little we found one about that size that was loaded with gun powder. You REALLY should have an expert look at it.

strong possibility it's a civil war era cannon ball. could even still be capable of exploding. be careful.....
