What is your impression of this piece?

Another creek find. I didn't take an insitu because it was smooth side up when I spotted it. Flakes are removed from one side only.

Is there any way to estimate age on something like this? It is only worked on the 1 side, no flake pattern just flaked to thin toward the edges. I can't see as where it has any grinding on it to indicate that it might have been hafted. Would it have just been held in the hand?

Imo it could be a utilized flake, or maybe what was left of a core. I wouldn't call it a scraper. jmho There's no way to determine age unless it was found in association with other distinguishable artifacts. Pieces like that show up on all sites Paleo - Mississipian.
