IMO, the best place to obtain a diggin knife is at a garage sale, yard sale, church sale, etc. Here's some knifes I use. My fav is the top one, it doesn't bend when one digs and cuts.......... 8)
I'm with Ric on this one! Those old kitchen hickory knives work the best! I've got several in the trunk of my car at all times in case I happen to break one.
On a trip to FL, a put me excalibur in a baseball equipment bag. Well, I forgot to take me fav knife, shown atop in the pic. Me bag goes through the x-ray machine and a TSA guy calls me over to open the bag. I unzip it and he pulls out me fav knife! Maybe this would only happen in a small airport like KCI, I explain it was me metal detectin knife and I forgot to take out. He lets me go outside the gate, hands me knife to me, and I was able to take it back to my car and had time to get back to the gate for the fly out!

I llike my WWII Marine bayonet. I covered the handle end with leather to save my hand from the metal and it makes a fine probe to wedge into a ring or pull tab.
