What specific years are da goods?

I know for halves pre-1964 is 90%, and that 1964-1970 is 40%. Is this the same with quarters and dimes? Also, what types of halves, quarters, and dimes are valuable? I have heard barbers, washingtons, standing liberty, walking liberty, rosies.... but i have no idea how to identify these. Can someone describe some of these and any extras I need to know? Pics would be nice!

P.S.- If the above dates are wrong please correct me.

Only halves continued with 40% silver until 1970. Dimes and Quarters stopped containing silver and switched to copper/nickel alloy in 1965. If you need help with pennies or nickels, let me know. Also look for any S mint marks, or proofs. Save proofs clad or silver.

You can check out coinflation for info on the composition of coins. Also you might want to check out APMEX. They sell coins and other precious metal. They have pictures and descriptions of many different coins and can give you an idea of what various common date silver coins sell for. Hope this helps. HH

40% of pre 65 quarters were made before 1965. The other 60% were made before 1965 as well. Hope this helps.

No, no, no, you've got it all wrong. 17% of 1939 quarters were minted in 1961, and 20% of the pre 65 quarters were minted after 1967. The 40% washington quarters were minted in 1965 and 1966, and weren't put into circulation until 1971. 90% double dollar coins were also pre 65, and 45% were minted with a 35% silver, 65% zinc composition. The other 55% were minted in 1966 with a 31.1% nickel, 68.9% manganese composition.

45% of all 40% silver coins were actually 38% silver, but 62% of those have been melted in the refineries, unless they were in the 15% that were shipped to casinos. This is not counting the 89% of all 67s that were minted with 37% silver. I am 86% sure on the 37% silvers though.
