Whats the oldest thing youve ever dug up?

Well, I found, in the back yard of a 200+ year old home, a damaged ax head 10" down that was probably used to clear the land for the home construction. Found with my XLT while checking the yard. It appeared to be a rusted block of iron, but after conserving it, it makes a nice display of a documented piece of history. Frank...

The oldest coin I ever found is an 1877 dime. Still looking for my first 1715 Spanish cob.

Went to England with Jimmy Sierra back in 1999 to metal detect the fields of East Anglia on the North Sea near the town of Cromer. Dug up a 1500 BC bronze age chisel. It's 3,500 years old!

A Winchester leader 12 Ga paper shotgun shell with 1901 head stamp.

A 3/4 grooved Archaic stone axe, I was told it was 8,000 – 5,500 BP. Made me sit right down and think about the time span from when it was lost to when it was found.

Well... I think some of the horseshoes I dig up on my old trail behind my house here in TN. are from ancient Viking explorers with their horses still attached!!!!!!!!!!!! Just plain f***ing OLD!!!!!

1869 IH penny.

1822 Large Cent at a house built in 1872. Only down about 5-6". I've dug IH's & Wheaties in the same yard that were much deeper!
Not anymore! Dug an Old Copper Culture socketed spearhead. Probably dates 3000-1000bc.

Hi. My oldest "dug" coin is an 1835 Capped Bust half dime. On ground I thought I had thoroughly detected!? Ya never know.

Hi; My Oldest Finds came from England. I used to go every year. In 1988 I found a Viking Cheiftains Sword from the Battle of Brough in 912 AD. It is now in the Doncaster National Museum in Doncaster England. I also found a Silver Hammered Penny from King Richard 3rd. 1189 Ad. That's Richard the LionHearted. !!!v His face was on the front with the Christian Crusades Short Cross on the Reveres.
American : 1670's Pewter Button and a 1693 King William and Mary 1/2 Pence.
PEACE:RONB

I assume the farther down something gets the older it is for the most part. And I'm sure the type of soil and detector play a large roll as well, but I'm curious as to just how old of stuff you guys have been able to find? Sorry if that's a stupid question but I'm curious to know.

My wife, but she's still a "keeper" found her in the late "70's.
