Whats your least favorite dime roll find?

you could just put them in a coin counter, and im pretty sure it would take it haha. although, i DO NOT ADVISE PUTTING ANYTHING OTHER THAN LEGAL U.S. TENDER/COINAGE INTO A COUNTER W/ THE INTENSION OF IT BEING ACCEPTED AS A U.S. COIN. haha...dont wanna get blamed if you get arrested my least favorite is pennies stuck in dime rolls, really bent dimes (surprisingly common!), and canadian dimes. sorry, couldnt pick just one keep it up and hh! I agree wth Chainchomp, who takes the time and effort to mill a penny down to the size of a dime. The five pence is easy to recognize, the reeding on the edge makes it look like a spocket, it is so course. I also dislike finding clad dimes. They should all be silver.

Just today i got a few bucks worth of the clear wrapped dimes to search. Got stoked because I could see a silver in one of them, got it out. It is a 1969 "silver edged dime" I was so stumped i got my loupe out, and I serioulsy cant decide if the tiny little specs of "off colored" markings are copper or patina. It sounds clad when compared so I guess its clad but you seriously cannot see any copper with the naked eye. I was bummed.

I also dislike finding clad dimes. They should all be silver.

A piece of wood which took up the space of 6 dimes in the middle of the roll of brinks wrapped dimes...

i used to work at a comic shop and kids would try to get away with the old 'dimes on the ends, pennies in the middle' trick. easy to do if the dime wrappers are a little wider than they should be.

I agree with the British 5 pence, that damn thing takes up at least 2 spaces in the roll and you cant get rid of them. Especially me since I have a bad habit of keeping all of the foreign coins that I get, leaving me jars full of foreign (especially Canadian) coins that I cant get rid of.

Like some of you I even bought the Canadian penny, nickel, and dime coin collecting folders.

This hobby has been slowly getting out of hand for years, especially now that I found this website.

I agree with the British 5 pence, that damn thing takes up at least 2 spaces in the roll and you cant get rid of them. Especially me since I have a bad habit of keeping all of the foreign coins that I get, leaving me jars full of foreign (especially Canadian) coins that I cant get rid of.

Do not put the canadian dimes in the coin counter, they are metallic and will be picked up with the magnet- won't be counted either but you wont ever see it again, might as well keep them. HH

I personally don't mind getting 5p coins in my rolls since I am quite fond of the design (Actually ordered a 2 coin silver proof 5 pence set the other day) but the worst are the Canadian nickel dimes since most coin counters won't count them since they stick to the magnet. I suppose I could spend them at stores, but I've gotten used to never using exact change and hunting my pocket change for coins, found a Merc that way.

ya, i know about this, and i used to be afraid of this too, but ive learned that there are ALWAYS different tricks to slide canadians (canadian coins! im not that racist! ) into the machine, without them getting caught...the worst that happens is they either get accepted, of rejected if you can find the "sweet spot" on the machine. and even IF they get caught, when they change out the bags just ask if you can have YOUR coins that got stuck to the magnet...they never have told me they cant give me my coins back, because after all, they ARE my coins. hope this helps! keep it up and hh! Yes, i do not know if this would help, but my dump bank told me whenever I dump, I can lift up the metal dumping tin and just dump directly into the hole to save time(skipping the magnet, but do not know if there is another somewhere else)
