I, like everybody else, the honest ones, used to love to post my finds. Then it happened to me....I had a bad experience trying to return a ring and then I found out there were people that view this site to try to make claim to the finds. I also had heard that someone posted in Craigslist to look over at the tnet if you are missing something. I figured with every crack head looking for a quick buck would start bothering all of us....and then also what happened to Maui Mike.....
I posted pictures of the finds with the garbage I found at the same time. At least for me there was never a reason to post my wife's jewelry, there's a lot out there to be found if you know where and how to find it....that's the trick
The main thing about this great website is all the nice people that I have met in person that post here; Cotton, Cavedweller, Mumszie, and several others that the names don't come to me right now. I've also received a lot of help from many that are a heck of a lot smarter than me in this hobby. Thanks
I found 23 rings this year (gold, silver, and junk rings). It really is the first time that I ever put any effort into the hunting; and when I say effort I mean 3 days a week, 4 hours a day, for about 6 weeks total time. Like I said it's there if you follow the advice of many of the pros on here and follow common sense.....
With all that I found, many of the seasonal hunters told me that this was the worst year for them, and they found a lot more than me this year. It makes me wonder what a good year is if I found all that I did. The seasonal hunters told me it was a bad year because of lack of people at the beach.....price of gas.....and other economical problems of the general public. Also, it was explained to me that there was too much sand this year, at least on the west coast of Florida.
Let's all hope that everything improves next year for everybody.
