Where are all the Arkies?

thought this was a archy thread lol. misread the title.

I'm in Jacksonville and new to the hobby

There is a club that meets in Cabot on the second Sunday. Good bunch of folks. I am just not able to make the meetings because I teach church.

Its good to see a few people. Now. Someone found gold near springdale? Thats awesome. I was just reading a blog that arkansas is possibly the poorest producing state to hunt.lol Ive been laying low. I got a garret 350 i need to get dirty. Im currently in the hot springs area. Lemme know.

Fort Smith area here.

Still in Springdale, I miss them old days of hunting fort smith, so much history still lying beneath the ground to be discovered. When I get another detector I'm gonna hit my brother up and head back down that way, he is the lucky one and last outing to fort smith he found a giant silver ring dated 1851 on the inside and a .69 bullet, and 1862 or 1863 two cent piece

I just have no idea where to hunt down here. So far we've just been on the property of some friends, and in a couple of the parks/playgrounds. Found lots of clad, 1 bracelet, and a old general store token.

Really? What general store token was it? Go to the fort smith library and ask for a book of the old houses there and it shows you houses from all the way back till the early 1800's some still standing and it will give u a general idea as far as street and cross street. I was a cop in that area many years and got to know many locals by just stopping in and saying hello.

It was for the C.L. Sharum and Bro General Store. It was actually in the Massard Community. I tracked down the store owners grandson and gave him the token. I found it on some property on the Eastside of Fort Smith, about a mile from where the store was located.

That's awesome I almost wonder if he was kin to frank sharum???

Maybe. His grandson is a lawyer here in town. I took him the token, and a couple days later my son got a note from him thanking him for being willing to give up his "treasure". I am big on family history, so I was glad for him to have it.

What's the grandson name?

Yea I have heard of him;) pretty good guy

Everytime we went there was so much silver to go around that I used to get tired of finding it. I found so many silver halves and big silver

I'm getting more and more excited. Especially for my son he's 13 and hasn't found silver yet.
